THEN HE SAID TO HIS DISCIPLES, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;” therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38
As you get ready for your mission trip, we want to encourage you to spend time in preparing yourself spiritually before arrival. We believe spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Bible reading, worship, and fasting should be evident and consistent in the life of a growing believer.
This trip may allow you the chance to escape from many of the distractions you face at home. We want you to promote prayer for your ministry, but you may also want to take advantage of the opportunity to “disconnect” from the constant on-slaught of information from television, the internet, and social media. Focus on the reason that God has called you to Buenos Aires.
Coming into another culture, whether it be for the first time or the tenth time brings many challenges physically, mentally, culturally, and spiritually. Buenos Aires may bring you in contact with new temptations and challenges. It will help to talk about these issues with your team and to have a plan in place for holding each other accountable during your time in Buenos Aires. But above that, it is essential that you have been abiding with Christ daily. He is our strength to resist temptation and our perseverance when faced with adversity. He is our wisdom that guides and directs us, for apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5).
Below, we have provided a 30 day spiritual preparation guide for your trip in case your church does not have a plan in place, or you just would like to spend some extra time readying yourself through God’s Word.
A 15 day prayer guide is also available for those who would like to pray for the city before, during or after your trip. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain the calendar.
Pray. Share. Serve. For some of you, this may be a once in a lifetime experience. Allow God to use every minute of your time in Buenos Aires for His glory!
